For those of you here from deviantArt, I'm glad to have you along! And for everyone else (though I'm not entirely sure anyone else would read this XD ), I go by LadyUsada, or Lindsay.
Aside from my first name, however, I won't be posting much along the lines of personal information or work related writing. Through this blog, I simply want to show everyone the fun, interesting, and sometimes quirky side of Japan with the help of my not-so-professional photos. Oh, and while there will be much in terms of lovely scenery, you can expect a large number of anime/game related photos as well. ;D
Anyhow, on to the pictures!
Upon my arrival in Japan, I'm immediately greeted with sights such as these...

And if that last photo wasn't enough of an indicator that I've arrived in Japan, the lack of air conditioning might help you figure it out. It is miserably hot and humid in Japan at this time of year. Probably about what Texas is going through... But unlike the housing in America, Japanese houses and apartments do not use central air or heating. Heck, most people are unaware that such a thing exists unless they have traveled abroad (though it's very amusing trying to explain the concept of central air to some people here XD ).
Instead, most everyone has a "cooler" or "air-con" unit in at least one room of their living quarters. These are a step above window units, and can cool down a room fairly quickly if you have the right one. However, most Japanese houses have ZERO insulation, so any attempt to cool down a room is thwarted as soon as the unit is turned off. orz!
But anyhow, I'll talk about housing more in the future. For now, have some neato pictures from Tokyo.
These pictures were taken outside a game center and around the shopping area. I love trying my hand at the UFO catcher machines when they have an anime figure I'm after. XD I didn't want to take any images inside, as I wasn't sure it was allowed, but I -unsuccessfuly- went for some Vocaloid and Toradora! items that took a small chunk of my money. But ah well, it was fun!
That's all for now, and probably all of Tokyo for a while, as I live in a more inaka *country* type setting. But since I live fairly close to Osaka, you can bet I'll be traveling when I get the chance!
